The 2021 Movio Audience Awards
We wanted to take a look at the opening weekend audiences from the top 10 films from 2021 and crown our own winners. Take a look at our 2021 Movio Audience Awards.
We took a look at the top 10 films opening weekends' from 2021, and celebrated in our own way! Our first Movio Audience award goes to F9, which attracted the most diverse audience through its opening weekend at the box office. Its audience breakdown is below:
Our second Movio Audience award goes to Spider-Man: No Way Home! Spidey's opening weekend audience attracted the most Gen Z moviegoers (43%) compared to other top releases from last year, including Venom: Let There Be Carnage, F9, and A Quiet Place II.
Spider-Man: No Way Home also takes home our third Movio Audiences award! As well as drawing the largest crowd of Gen Z audiences, Spider-Man: No Way Home had the biggest attendance from the night owls among us. More moviegoers chose late night sessions between 9pm and midnight (18%) compared to other top films throughout 2021. Though, hopefully those audiences did have a way home after the movie…
Tom Holland seems popular any time of day, because Spider-Man: No Way Homeagain won our fourth Movio Audience award, this time for having the most moviegoers choosing to attend early morning sessions for its opening weekend, with 9% attending before midday.
Our fifth and final Movio Audience award goes to, perhaps unsurprisingly, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Spiderman had the highest percentage of return moviegoers, with 11% of the audience choosing to see the title twice in its opening weekend alone! Moviegoers returning for multiple viewings are always an impressive feat for movies, but especially so for the sheer size of No Way Home's audience.
